Geography Markup Language (GML) is gaining momentum, and it’s being adopted worldwide in a broad diversity of application domains, ranging from aviation tonatural-resource management to transportation security to geographic features to satellite imagery to real-time sensor data streams. But with such a diversity of datatypes and world views, how can GML cope? The answer lies in GML application schemas and, to a lesser extent, GML profiles.
