UK Ministry of Defence Contracts Tenet Defence UK with Galdos for Further Geographic Data Integration and Access Over the Web

Vancouver, BC, Canada, May 2, 2006 – Galdos Systems Inc., a leader in Spatial Data Infrastructure (SDI) technology, announced today the UK Ministry of Defence has contracted TENET Defence Ltd as the main contractor with Galdos Systems to investigate the integration of geospatial data through the use of open-standard web services.Galdos is delivering a number of GML (Geographic Markup Language) schemas jointly with Tenet Defence to ensure users can pull information from multiple sources, such as maritime maps, weather information, ship locations, in a user-friendly web interface.

The two partners will also be performing a high-level technical architecture review and will be providing a technology demonstration to the client. The demonstrator will include Galdos Cartalinea Web Feature Service and Tenet’s Chartlink thick client.

“This contract is an important milestone in the development of a spatial information infrastructure for the UK maritime defence community, and it extends and complements work already done by Galdos with the United Kingdom Hydrographic Office,” says Gordon Vereschagin, Director of Sales of Galdos Systems Inc. “This project leverages our Cartalinea Web Feature Service to improve the speed at which geographic data can be shared and transmitted,” said Ron Lake, CEO of Galdos Systems Inc. “Our technology enables customers like the Ministry of Defence to share data from multiple sources in real-time over the web.”
